Antalaha, pronounced Antala (the last laugh is silent), is a coastal town in the north east of Magagascar. The town is , know for being the vanilla producing capital of Madagascar. The scent is intense and wonderful!A long beautiful beach and sometimes huge waves is part of the scenery. The area is regularly affected by cyclones and in 2004 and in 2007, virtually all its vanilla crops and much of the town was destroyed but this is a town that always seems to rebuild itself. <!--The population of the district of Antalaha was estimated in 2001 at 75,000.-->
