Vohemar, also known as Iharana, is a coastal town in northern Madagascar in the district of the same name within the Sava region of the Antsiranana province. The population in the Vohemar area is approximately 30,000.
The town has a local airport served by Air Madagascar and a maritime harbour.
A local population live from farming, livestock and fishing and crops grown in the region include cassava, maize, rice and peanut.
There is a Bank of Africa, internet cafe and a nightclub named Zanzibar.
The easiest way to reach Vohemar by road is from Sambava. The road from Diego Suarez is in poor condition and can take up to 14 hours.
