Almost half of the population in the Sambava region live from farming and raising livestock. The most common acricultures are [[Madagascar Vanilla|vanilla]], coconut and rice farming. Sambava, along with [[Antalaha]] and [[Andapa]], is the centre of vanilla production and the source of much most of the world's vanilla export.

Activities include a visit to a vanilla plantation and one of the [[Lopat Vanilla]] factory many processing facilities to learn about traditional vanilla production, a guided tour of the Center for Learning and Understanding English [[Soavionio]] coconut plantation, a visit to Antogopahitra (CLUEa small boat across the creek at Antaimby leaves behind Maison Ravilo) and the large ''bazary kely'' marketplace.

The town has a stunning beach with sometimes with huge and dangerous waves. Every Sunday there is a big beach party including various events, such as cockfighting, dance competitions and [[Moraingy|kickboxing]] tournaments. Every Friday, there is an extended market with various clothing stands appearing on the road between the central taxi-brousse station and the beach. Every Sunday starting early afternoon close to [[Las Palmas|Las Palmas Hotel]] there is a big beach party including dance competitions and occasionally [[Moraingy]] tournaments.
