Ambilobe is a town along the RN6 in north Madagascar. The town is separated by the Mahavavy River.

Compared to the smaller towns and villages in the remote surrounding, Ambilobe might make an uncharming impression when first arriving. That is mainly due to the large traffic, as Ambilobe is a junction town for transport between places such as Vohemar (Iharana) and Sambava on the east coast, Diego Suarez in the north and Ambanja direction south.

Ambilobe is the closest town to Ankarana National Park.

The population in 2001 was approximately 56,000. Its main agriculture includes sugarcane, rice and tomato, while cotton is also grown and fishing employs about 10 percent of the population.

Albert Zafy, the president of Madagascar between 1993 until 1996, was born in Ambilobe.
