'''The ''Joseph Ramanandraibe Group'' was founded in 1927 and is now in its third generation. Joseph Ramanandraibe (1900-1973) was a merchant and a leading figure of the Protestant Church in Madagascar, for which he served many years as treasurer of the "Isan'Enimbolan'Imerina", an institution within the Church which organised the evangelisation of coastal provinces through its missionaries.'''

While the patrimony left behind by Mr Joseph Ramanandraibe was primarily real estate, the second generation had already made a breakthrough in industry (the Société Malgache de Couvertures, [[Chocolaterie Robert]]), though its main business was trading major exports, such as coffee, vanilla, clove, spices, essential oils etc. In those days, Ramanandraibe Exportation collected and exported its products through 10 agencies located along coastal areas of Madagascar.
Today, the third generation has shifted its focus back to agriculture, such as planting cacao, ylang-ylang and fresh vegetables for export, etc.
