Ikaloy is one of the twelve sacred hills of the ancient Merina Kingdom. Ikaloy is located in the north-west of Antananarivo.
Set high up at 1,600m above sea level, it was the birthplace of King Andrianampoinimerina. The system of weights and measures of this village were adopted by this king for all his kingdom. (Text by Isabelle Ratsira)
