Turning left onto a secondary road just north of Sambava, this route runs along hilltops with stunning views of the surrounding hillscapes until the villages of Antisraka and Ambohimitsinjo.
The road and sometimes trail continues at lower altitudes through nature and plantations until the Maheva river and thereafter runs through the villages of Ambodimanga, Masovariaka until arriving at Farahalana where the RN5a turns north back to Sambava.
