After about eight kilometres along the RN5a from Sambava, turn left at the crossroad village of Ambariomihambana where the RN3b to Andapa begins.
Every few kilometres, there are roadside villages and along much of the way route views of the Marojejy massif with its 2,132 metres peak can be seen. -
There are no high standard accommodations exists until Andapa where the RN3b route ends, so it's best to complete the stretch in a single day, maybe arriving at the Andapa peak by sunset from where there is only a few kilometres short roll down into town.
The Andapa Basin itself offers bike and trekking routes opportunities in all directions. For example, a 13km return bike ride to [[Ampontsilahy]] is makes an easy half or one day return trip (see from Andapa. See [[Andapa to Ampontsilahy by bike]]). Alternatively, stay overnight at the basic hotel accommodation in Ampontsilahy and continue by foot along less bikable routes at higher elevations, such as such as to [[Tanambao Andapa|Tanambao]] and [[Tsaramandroso]] and further.
