Vohemar to Mazava is a part of one of the best bike routes in the country with scenery along the whole way is indescribably beautiful, passing little villages and friendly farmers along the way. The road is in excellent condition and traffic is minimal with only a few passing taxi-brousses and trucks and zebu. It's even relatively safe for the odd reptile to cross the road now and then without being flattened.

[[Mazava]] is a tiny and mostly unknown village about four kilometres south of [[Ampanefena]] which is the largest town halfway between Vohemar and Sambava. However, as the none of the four hotels in Ampanefena are particularly good, it's better to stay in Mazava at [[Maison Zaza]] which is the estate of a vanilla farmer which rents out four small bungalows on their property.
