'''The bike ride from Sambava to Ofaina begins along the RN5a in the direction of [[Antalaha]]. After 24km, at Farahalana, turn right onto a secondary road along the Meava river. Ofaina , pronounced ''Foeny'', is one of several small villages along the river and in all 39 kilometres from [[Sambava]].'''

The route along the river is a bit bumpy here and there and is best biked during the dry season since at times of much regular rainfall the road will be very muddy in places. Ofaina is often called ''foeny'' which means ''sticky mud'' as the road and can be very difficult to pass and cars will easily get stuck here. Many people prefer to travel the this route by the motorised longboats that shuttles passengers and farmers with their their crops to and from the villages along the river.
