Nosy Lonja, or Sugarloaf Island, is the small island in Diego Bay pictured on many postcards and in travel brochures for the area. This small island has become a landmark symbolising both the town and the bay of Deigo. A picture of the island also appears on the 100 Ariari banknotes printed in 2004. It is considered fady by locals to visit the island as it is said death will follow those who step ashore, as such, no poeple are living there and no and boat transfers are available. One can however admire the view from the safe distance of the shore. The location can be found a few kilometres from Deigo Suarez town on the only road leading towards Ramena Village.
