Nosy Lonja, or Sugarloaf Island, is a small island in Diego Bay featured on numerous postcards and in travel literature. This small island is a landmark symbolising both the town and the bay of Diego Suarez. A picture of the island appears on the 100 Ariari banknotes.

It is considered fady to visit the island as it is believed death will follow to those who step ashore. As such, the island remains uninhabited and boat transfers are not available nor recommended. One may however admire the view of the island from a safe distance of the shore along Boulebvard Duplex, about 10 minutes drive from Diego town.
