Mantasoa is a town with approximately 10,000 inhabitants (2001 measure). The majority of the population (95.05%) are farmers while an additional 0.5% are raising livestock. The most important crop is rice, other important crops are beans, cassava and sweet potato. Services provide employment for 3% of the population. Additionally fishing employs 1% of the population.
