Joseph RAMANANDRAIBE (1900 - 1973) was merchant as well as a leader of the Protestant Church in Madagascar for many years assuming the role of Treasurer for the "Isan'Enimbolan'Imerina", the Protestant organization whose missionaries as done much work to convert the population of coastal areas in Madagascar into Evangelism.  
 
  
While at the time the estate left behind by Mr. Joseph RAMANANDRAIBE consisted primarily of real estate, the second generation had already made a breakthrough in industry (the Malagasy company Hedges, Chocolaterie Robert) primarily trading in major exports, such as coffee, vanilla, cloves, spices, essential oils etc.
