Amparafaravola is a town and district by the same name. Its population was measured 2001 at 47,000. The area is part of the Alaotra-Mangoro Region in the Toamasina province.

About 80% of the inhabitants of Amparafaravola town and district make their living from farming; maise, cassava and especially rice is grown as well as exported.
