Ampandrana is one of the twelve sacred hills of the ancient Merina Kingdom, located in the south-west of Antananarivo.

Located in the vicinity of Ankadivoribe, it was the birthplace of the Vazimba sovereigns. King Andrianampoinimerina did not place a wife there but he did invoke it systematically in order to keep links from immemorial time. (Text by Isabelle Ratsira)
